Roofing Costs By Material

Aluminum Roofing Prices – Expect to pay between $7 – $15 per square foot for materials and labor. There are two types of aluminum roofs, interlocking aluminum shingles and standing seam panels.

Price Of Asphalt Shingles – Expect to pay between $2.75 to $5.75 per square ft. for both materials and labor. These roof replacement costs are on the lower end as asphalt shingles are the most reasonably priced roofing material.

Cedar Shake Roof Cost –  Expect to pay around $6 – $9 per square foot for cedar shake roofs, which is as much as five times more than what you would pay for asphalt shingles.

Clay Tile Cost – This ranges from $6.50 to $11.00 psf installed (materials and labor). These roof replacement costs are in the middle of the price range.

Concrete Tiles Prices – range from $5.00 to $10.00 per square foot for both the materials and the installation. As far as roofing, this cost range falls somewhere in the mid price range, higher than asphalt shingles and lower than pricier metals.

Composite Roofing Cost – Expect composite roofing cost to run anywhere from $3.00 to $9.00 per square foot installed. Composite shingles are made from a variety of different materials combined together into a single shingle. They are most often made from asphalt, although composites made from other materials are becoming increasingly popular.

Copper Costs – It is one of the most expensive roof materials on the market. However, copper roofs last 2 to 3 times as long as asphalt shingles and look absolutely beautiful when installed correctly.

Corrugated Prices – These range from $4.00 to $14.00 psf installed. This is a larger range than many other categories because “corrugated” is a generic term that can be applied to many different materials, including metals like steel and aluminum as well as other materials such as fiberglass.

EPDM Roofing Costs – These range from $5.00 to $8.00 installed depending on the quality of the material and the complexity of the project. Rubber roofing is available in two types of material – EPDM of IB PVC.

Fiberglass Prices – These will run anywhere from $3.00 to $5.00 installed. The pricing will vary based on the quality of the panels you select, as well as the complexity of the project.

Metal Vs. Shingles Cost – Expect asphalt shingles to top out at $5.75 psf installed, while copper can go up to $24.00 psf. The price differences are huge, mainly due to the high price tag of metals.

PVC Pricing – This ranges from $3.00 to $6.00 installed, which is roughly twice the cost of the torch down method. These membranes are created using a heat welding process whereby a single sheet or membrane can cover the entire roof surface. This means no seams or joints, which are typically the areas where roof leaks occur.

Steel Roofing Prices – These will range from $5.50 to $14.00 per square foot installed. Tar And Gravel Cost – These can range from $2.75 to $5.75 psf installed. They tend to be on the lower end due to the low material prices and relative ease of installation. It can be expensive to tear off this type of roofing as it can be messy and difficult work.
